Works For Me Wednesday

This is a pretty simple idea, but it really works for me when I'm cooking supper. This toy is supposed to hang on the side of the crib, but it never saw much use that way around here because my babies don't spend much time in their crib. It's perfect to hang on the back of a kitchen chair, though. Once they can sit up pretty well, I hang it up and they only get to sit there while I'm cooking - they're close to me, but occupied and out of harm's way.
Now head on over to the other Shannon's and check out all the fabulous ideas!
BTW, that's eczema on his little cheeks and it looks much worse in the picture than in real life, but if anyone has any ideas about how to get rid of it - I'll try anything at this point! It comes and goes, but I have tried cuting everything out of my diet and if it's an allergy I sure can't figure it out. He's still pretty cute though, huh? Posted by Picasa

Thanks for the tip! Your son IS adorable. My middle son had really terrible excema. He would scratch himself till he bled every day. He is six now though and doing much better. We found non-steriod Pro-topic or Elidel cream worked best (still need a prescription) and Creamy Vaseline. In my son's case it was due to food allergy. We had to maintain a strict food journal with him to narrow it down. Food allergens go by many different names and it can get a bit tricky. Please feel free to email me if you want to ask me any questions. I'd be more than willing to help. Take care, Laura

my newphew had excema really bad on his cheeks. my SIL tried everything to get rid of it. in the end it turned out that it was impetigo and not excema after all. a prescription from the doctor cleared it right up. just a thought.

My youngest two both had severe exzcema. Ours also was food allergy based and cleared up completely upon removing the specific foods from the diet. There were a lot of them. We later found that taking a nice combo of enzymes solved the problem completely and now neither kid has exzema at all (except when they forget to take the enzymes before eating).

As far as creams go, we found that Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream (by Colgate) really helps with the discomfort.

Yup, yup...gotta agree...food allergy. (Sorry!) Maybe eggs, dairy or wheat??? Tried those? It is so hard to figure out, isn't it?

Our baby had severe eczema for most of his life. We went to several Dr's and specialist. My biggest advice is to go for allergy testing - it made all the difference in the world for us! Secondly, wheat germ oil helps as a lotion for the face and so does evening primrose. I have so much more I could tell you. Just let me know if you need more info by e-mail or you can leave a comment on our blog.
